In this Application Inspiration video Danielle teaches you how to wear the Crescent and the Mini Crescent. One of the most popular and flattering ways to wear Bolt Balm.
STICK AROUND for the bloopers! We totally agree with the Bob Ross approach:
No mistakes. Just happy little accidents.

Alright, who’s ready to learn how to put on the crescent today? This is going to be super fun!
Why do we call it the crescent? It’s because we are located in the crescent city and the crescent is shaped like a moon. I wear it here on my face. Today, I’m going to choose Peacock. It’s an amazing blue-green color. It also has a lovely gold tint to it so I feel like that matches my outfit pretty well. A lot of people choose Bolt Balm based on their outfit. Some people choose based on their mood. Some people really like the metallics. Some people like the bright colors. And some people like the more subtle sparkles like the iridescents. But with 35 colors, we have a lot to choose from. So go to our website! Check it out and see what color speaks to you.
Alright, so how do I get started, you ask? When I’m doing the crescent, I like to start with my jar of Bolt Balm and, for me, I don’t like to just go right onto my skin. I like the slower approach so I like to use something to hold my glitter for me. I call it a palette. And if I don’t have a palette handy or a paper plate, I will use the back of my hand to hold my glitter.
So I’m using my applicator. Of course, that comes free with any purchase. And I’m grabbing just a little bit of Bolt Balm on my applicator. I always say a little bit goes a long way and I say that, of course, as a warning not as a deterrent. Because some people do like to wear a lot of glitter. But as far as design goes, a little bit goes a long way. You don’t have to put a lot of product on in order to have a really bright shine. If you put a whole bunch of product on, it’s all clumped up. As those clumps dry, they’ll sometimes fall off your face whereas if you can spread it very evenly and get all those little glitter flakes to sit flat on your skin, you’re gonna get a longer wear period out of your glitter.
So let’s get started here.
When I’m doing the crescent, I’m going to just keep on laying it down on my skin. And I always tell people if you can butter bread, you can wear glitter. That’s how easy it is to put on.
So I’m just going along, laying the glitter down on my face and the side of my full crescent. I’m gonna come all the way over the middle of my eyebrow and I like to work in a sweeping motion again laying that glitter down flat with my little applicator, getting those little hairs out of the way. Those little baby hairs they always love to come to the party and it’s not time to come to the party yet. That’s another tutorial where we show you how to wear Bolt balm in your hair. But this one, is the crescent.
So again, I’m just working this glitter in, laying it down flat to my skin, steering it, kind of coming in from the different directions. I feel like I need this area to fill in a little bit more there. That’s the ticket, that’s what I’m talking about. So let’s just scoot these little particles and I like to use the edge of the applicator. It’s kind of at an angle so I’ll use the edge of my applicator.
If I want to get a sharper point to my crescent, if I feel like it’s too round up above – it’s like a little mini bulldozer, I just go and just move those glitter particles where I want them to live. And that’s actually looking pretty good. I’m liking this full crescent. Let’s see are there any spots that need to fill in? Doesn’t look like it. Making sure all those little glitter pieces are flat to my skin. If I see any that feel kind of rough or I say feel rough (it doesn’t ever feel rough on your skin this is really gentle) but if I see any that look popped up and not flat, I’ll make sure that I lay them down a little bit but looks pretty good.
That is the full crescent. So now for my mini-crescent.
So I’m coming back into this nice convenient palette I have here on the back of my hand. And for the mini crescent, I’m doing a little bit smaller not going quite as far. It’s like a little mini-crescent. It’s shaped like a moon. It’s reminding me of the crescent city New Orleans. It’s where I’m from. It’s not where I’m from, it’s where I live now. And just working those little pieces getting them to lay flat on the skin. And our gel is an aloe-base so one thing that you’ll find as you’re using Bolt Balm, as you start to use the Elektra products, you’re gonna notice that it actually makes your skin feel like…I always feel like when I’m using Bolt Balm more, my skin always feels softer when I’m done. So our gel doesn’t have any adhesive in it that’s going to irritate the skin too much. No, it’s not going to irritate the skin. It’s very gentle.
And there we go: the mini-crescent, the full crescent. Thanks for watching!
