Application Inspiration: The Crescent

Alright, who’s ready to learn how to put on the crescent today? This is going to be super fun!

Why do we call it the crescent? It’s because we are located in the Crescent City and the crescent is shaped like a moon. I wear it here on my face. Today, I’m going to choose Peacock — an amazing blue-green color with a lovely gold tint that matches my outfit pretty well. A lot of people choose Bolt Balm based on their outfit; others choose based on their mood. Some love metallics, others love bright colors, and some prefer subtle sparkles like iridescents. When doing the crescent, I start with my jar of Bolt Balm but I don’t apply it directly to my skin. I like to use a palette — if I don’t have one, I’ll use the back of my hand. Using the applicator (which comes free with any purchase), I grab a little product. A little goes a long way — enough for shine without clumping. If it’s clumped, it can dry and fall off; if spread evenly, the glitter flakes sit flat and last longer.

Applying is as easy as buttering bread! I lay the glitter down in a sweeping motion, going over the middle of my eyebrow. I keep baby hairs out of the way (they’ll get their party moment in our hair tutorial). I steer the glitter with the angled edge of my applicator, like a mini bulldozer, to shape the crescent to a point or round it out. Once everything’s flat and even, that’s the full crescent.

For the mini crescent, I use the same palette and create a smaller arc that doesn’t go as far. Our aloe-based gel feels gentle and can even leave skin feeling softer after use. And there you have it: the mini crescent and the full crescent. Thanks for watching!
